Yes. Akagera is home to lions, elephants, rhinos, buffalos, and leopards, making it a complete Big Five destination.

Popular activities include:

  • Morning and afternoon game drives
  • Boat safaris on Lake Ihema
  • Birdwatching
  • Guided nature walks
  • Behind-the-scenes conservation tours
  • Community cultural experiences

Both options are available. You can:

  • Book a guided game drive with a professional ranger
  • Self-drive using your own 4x4 or a hired vehicle

Akagera is open year-round, but the dry seasons (June–September and December–February) offer the best wildlife viewing because animals gather around water sources and vegetation is less dense.
